However we always wanted to try and cook it ourselves. Alas all the recipes everywhere showed how to prepare it with the help on an oven. And since we live in a rented flat which doesn’t have the provision of an oven fitting, we are always at a loss. Everywhere we read, they said that Roast Chicken cannot be done in a microwave. So we finally decided to give it a shot anyways. Ultimately if it doesnt work we can always cook something out of it.

So with bit of this and that, we finally got it made. When Sumi ate it, she said it was the best chicken she ever made. Well I didn’t correct her. It was really awesome. So now we plan to bring home whole chicken whenever we get a chance. After all, practice makes a man perfect.

Note – The picture is of the chicken when it came just out of the microwave so pardon the untidy look of it :p

Ingredients

1 whole chicken

5-6 cloves of garlic crushed

2 medium onions cut into 4 pieces

2 twigs of thyme

10 green chillies

2 tbs soya sauce

4-5, 1″ginger slit

Salt to taste

Yoghurt (200gm)

Turmeric 1 tbs

Vinegar 1tsp

2 lts of water

2 lemons cut into 4 peices

Method

Marinate the chicken with all ingredients and keep it dipped in water for 24 hrs so that all vegetables and the chicken gets mixed properly.

Take few of the marinated onion pieces, garlic, thyme and chillies and place them inside the chicken. Now in a microwave safe pan, drizzle some olive oil and salt, put the chicken and drizzle some olive oil again and put the wings folded below.

Pre-heat the microwave oven to 220 degrees celcius. Now put the microwave in Combination (Micro + Convection) mode with the microwave set at the average power and the convection temperature set around 220 degree celsius. Cook the chicken for 30 minutes.

Keep the chicken in the oven for 10 minutes before taking it out and serve it.

This is surprising considering that we have chicken every other day. So I drilled down our archives and found so many delicious chicken recipe pics. But unfortunately neither Sumi nor me remember the recipes. So when Sumi cooked this simple recipe tonight, I just had to post it. This is the most common form of chicken we have had ever since the low carb diet started.

Those busy days when both of us return quite late from work, Sumi is too tired to cook properly and I, as usual, am too lazy to cook. During such evenings this quick recipe comes to our recipe. Guess what, even I cook this recipe deliciously hehehe. That should give you an idea.

Ingredients

2 Chicken Breasts

1 Tbsp Ginger Garlic Paste

1 Tbsp Chilli Powder

1 tsp Ground Black Pepper

1 Tbsp Lemon Juice

Salt as per taste

Oil to shallow fry

Method

Marinate the chicken with all the ingredients. Set it aside for ½ hour.

Shallow fry these for 15 mins turning each side, till chicken is tender and golden brown.

You can have this as a main dish or serve with a gravy/chutney and make it a snack.

We usually are tired by the time Friday evening comes and look forward to the weekend. Hence we always try to whip up something quick. And if a nice movie comes on television (nice as in Sumi's dictionary), the task usually falls on me. So Sumi decided and I made and Chicken in Tangy Sauce was ready :) This is the first time we cooked something like this but were glad with the outcome.

If you like this post please post your comment by going to the original post here Chicken in Tangy Sauce

So Sumi decided and I made and Chicken in Tangy Sauce was ready This is the first time we cooked something like this but were glad with the outcome.

Ingredients

200gms boneless chicken cut into small pieces

1 medium onion finely chopped

2tbps melted butter

1tsp black pepper dry roasted and crushed

2 Garlic Flakes minced well

1tbps fresh parsley (coriander leaves) chopped

1/2tsp chilly powder

2-3 green chillies chopped into small pieces

1tbps tomato ketchup

1/2tsp sugar

Salt to taste

Method

Boil the tomatoes for 3-4 minutes, peel it and then cool. Now put it in a blender and turn it into puree.

Heat oil in a wok. Put half of the chopped onions and the minced garlic in it. Cook well till the onions get softened. Add the tomato puree that you made and mix it well. Add a little bit of sugar and salt to taste. Boil the mixture in low flame and turn it into a thick sauce. Keep it aside.

In a separate utensil, wash the chicken, add salt and melted butter and mix well. Now add the rest of the onions and green chillies. Sprinkle with roasted black pepper. Let it marinate for around 10-15 minutes. Now put it in a microwave oven, set it to Micro+Grill combi mode (use around 540W power) and let it cook for around 10-15 minutes. Keep close watch so that the chicken doesnt get burnt.

Now take out the chicken, add the sauce prepared, add little bit of sugar and mix well. Put it back to the oven in micro mode for around 3-4 minutes.

Take the prepared chicken out, garnish with parsley and serve hot
